Kindle version does not line up with printed version

Maybe I'm missing something, but the kindle version is terrible! The pages do not line up with the printed version so I cannot follow along in class. The set up is COMPLETELY different. All my other textbooks set up just like the printed version in my kindle. Not sure why this one does not.

If you have the choice, totally get the 2-volume set! It's split roughly into equal sections so it makes carrying a probably already heavy backpack that much nicer. Chapters are actually organized fairly well. If you nursing program is like mine, then likely the first few chapters are pretty much filler for stuff in your fundamentals of nursing course. It does a fairly good job of refreshing your basic A&P stuff in each chapter of the body systems which, at least for me, was helpful since my anatomy/physiology was never that great.

Nice, updated version.

I have both the 7th and 8th edition. The changes are not major, but I think the 8th edition is organized a bit better and it has a more clean appearance to it. There are more nursing alerts and nursing priority boxes throughout the text, making the more important stuff easier to find. The overall text is about the same. The benefits of the easier to read charts, and more alerts makes the upgrade worth it.

About the Author
George C. Herring is Alumni Professor of history at the University of Kentucky. He received his Ph.D. in History from the University of Virginia and taught at Ohio University before moving to the University of Kentucky. He is the author of numerous books, articles, and essays, including The Secret Diplomacy of the Vietnam War: The Negotiating Volumes of the Pentagon Papers (1983) and LBJ and Vietnam: A Different Kind of War (1994). He served as editor of the scholarly journal Diplomatic History from 1982 to 1986 and was President of the Society for Historians of American Foreign Relations in 1990. In 1991, he served as Visiting Fulbright Scholar at the University of Otago, Dunedin, New Zealand and from 1993 to 1994, he was Visiting Professor of History at the U.S. Military Academy, West Point.

The Best Vietnam War History in a Small Size

This history by Vietnam War expert Herring is by far the best general history of that war in a small, manageable size. It's suitable for both general readers and classroom use. As a bonus, the annotated bibliography is a terrific standalone resource, a wonderful guide for further study.

A Great Account of American Grand Strategy in Vietnam

Like many people here, I read this book for a college class concerned with providing an explanation of the numerous questions that arise whenever one ponders America in Vietnam, like why it was there, and why it lost. Any student or curious reader should find this work a great tool for this task.

The book is fairly short, numbering less than 400 pages. By that restraint alone, no reader should expect a thorough, voluminous exposition on every aspect of the war akin to Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire, or a textbook for that matter. It's a piece on political history with a general thesis, numerous recurring themes, and plenty of information to back everything up.

The thesis is that the containment strategy America adopted around the Korean War, and its perceiving Vietnam as a strategic door to all of Southeast Asia, prevented each successive president from leaving Vietnam to the wolves and forced each one to progressively raise American stakes n the region. Numerous other variables--some consistent to all presidencies, like fear of facing the same political bloodletting as Truman got over "losing" China in 1949; some specific to the president, like JFK's need to take a stand somewhere after negotiating on Laos, and after the Berlin wall was erected--accompanied this grand one, but the central theme of this book draws a vivid picture of proud Cold Warriors refusing to back down and unwilling to commit entirely, hoping to bluff out an enemy who had already gone all in.

Of course, because it is a work with a point to prove rather than a huge collection of unfiltered facts, the reader must be wary of buying into Herring's perspective without private review of his logic. That's true for every book of this sort, however, and for what it's worth, Herring makes a very convincing case.

On the technical side of things, this book could have done more to centralize its presentation of thematic events. Since the author shifts between historical narrative and analysis, the latter could have summaries and reminders of recurring concepts on the margins. As it is, the reader has to discover themes like "US arrogance" or "governmental deception" by himself and note their recurrence without any assistance from Herring. Doing this isn't the standard for most books, though (the only one I can think off that does this is Landmark Thucydides), I can't criticize the book for not following up on these suggestions.

I would recommend if in school to ask professor if their alright ...

Very well written book. The one thing I regret was buying the hardcover vs the paperback people in my class bought the paperback and the only issue or difference we found between the two was that the pages were 7 pages different. So if hardcover had something on page 30 it was on 37 I'm the paperback. I would recommend if in school to ask professor if their alright with you buying the paper back. It will save you a bit of money.

Grammatical Errors Galore

It surprises me that a marketing collegiate text book has so many grammatical errors. Especially when the introduction claims that "every page has been poured over to provide the most up to date research and business articles for educational purposes." Walmart is spelled Wahnart, etc. Through the whole book. While the book is clearly organized, sometimes the grammatical mistakes deter from the flow of reading, making the study process aggravating at times. And while this is a marketing book for a marketing course, it seems more like an excuse to market TO YOU.

Well written Marking book which includes many useful real world examples

This is the latest edition of the Principles of Marketing textbook and is used for an introductory undergraduate or graduate course. It's clearly written and includes lots of fresh, up-to-date, illustrative real-world examples to prove their theories and statements. Each chapter is filled with key terms used in the real world and the definitions can be found in the margins. The terms are also explained by the author's words as well as live examples. The end-of-chapter questions and case studies are also a very good reference and provide a way to test yourself on the content shared within the chapters. Also included in the chapters are many helpful charts, tables, and photos.

During my course I found this to be a very helpful book and believe that the content that is covered will help me while I continue to chase my professional goals and dreams.

I found The Supernatural Life to be a great encouragement to my faith and an enjoyable read. In this very engaging book, Cindy Jacobs shares her testimony of Holy Spirit baptism and talks frankly about receiving and learning to walk in faith in many of the spiritual gifts God has given her. This is a great read for those who have had an encounter with the Holy Spirit and want continued encouragement or for those with an open heart and mind who want to learn more about the power of God and the supernatural life.

The Supernatural Life: Experience the Power of God in Your Everyday Life by Cindy Jacobs

If you want to see God move in and thru you, this book can be an encouragement. It covers her experimenting God in her bathroom where no one would know...sounds like a lot of us: "If I do that, someone might see and think I'm crazy!" God meets you where you are, as long as your heart is in the right place.

It talks about miracles from health, to food and oil multipling; in our day. It also talks about praying and nothing happens, but don't give up. It shares about God giving directions and then people follow those directions even if it seems impossible and takes 9 months to figure out what the directions were talking about.

I helps me to be excited about Gods things, and to practice on myself, if I'm the only one around :-) ! And for me, just because I can't figure it out right away, it doesn't mean I should think God was not in it. Food for my thoughts and possibly yours.

Once again Sis and prophtess Cindy Jacobs has done it again and again by the help and inspiration of the HOLY SPIRIT. As soon as I finished reading this book and also the book of Acts I was posioned by one of the devil's agents and I refused to get help but rather trusted the Lord to heal me and He did. I LOVE THIS BOOK, GOD IS A MIRACLE WORKING GOD. THANK YOU LORD AND I LOVE YOU DEARLY. KEEP ME UNTIL I TAKE MY LAST BREATH OR UNTIL THE RAPTURE BECAUSE TRULY YOU ARE ALL I HAVE. THANKS my dear sister in the Lord.
